    Full Fathom Five
    TTBB and piano
Commissioned by the Da Camera Singers of Edmonton for a concert in 2004 as a piece just for the male section of the choir, this composition uses the famous song that Ariel sings in the early part of Shakespeare's Tempest. The male voices give this text a very special meaning, as it is taken away from the stage and brought "down" among us. Special note of the extremely atmospheric piano writing!

    EASTER ORATORIO
    "No More Fear of Dying"
for Soli, SATB Choir, and Piano
    (and other optional instruments)

"No More Fear of Dying" is ideally suited for church choir ministry. 18 songs for SATB chorus and soloists vividly portray the Biblical account of Christ's final days on earth. Understanding the challenges and limitations faced by church choirs, Larry has written several songs which can be used in other contexts. Come to the Upper Room, for example, works well with any communion service or mass throughout the year.

The entire work is 50 minutes long. There are many dramatic possibilities in this music and choirs are encouraged to use their imagination and make adaptations. Although the Oratorio is scored for choir and piano, Larry has also written parts for bass guitar, drums, and percussion.

A Meditation on the Crucifixion of Christ
for Soprano Solo, Narrator, Mixed Chorus SATB,
    Organ, and Chamber Orchestra
Premiered in the Spring of 2005 by Pro Coro Canada (Edmonton) under Richard Sparks' direction to great acclaim from audience and critic alike, this composition confirmed the extraordinary gifts of its composer, Allan Bevan, and established him as one of Canada's finest. Bill Rankin of the Edmonton Journal wrote that the work "has artistic coherence and integrity", that one movement "was technically masterful and moving", another "is tranquil, almost pastoral". The work kept him "spellbound", and "it propelled the 1700 people to their feet". High praise, indeed.

For performances the choral material is to be combined with a full score (# 070101 -$58.00)and a complete set of parts (# 070102 - $68.00). Any performance that uses piano alone, or employs a reduced orchestra, violates the spirit of the composition, and is seriously discouraged.
